Lions Clubs in the midlands joined forces with the farming community, supportive organisations and individuals in a fundraising project, named Hooves 4 Hospice, that has raised in excess of €1Million towards the cost of building the much needed Midland Regional Hospice.
The project involved recruiting a large number of farmers from across the midlands and beyond who were willing to rear an animal. The participating farmers sold the animals when ready for market and the entire proceeds were donated to help fund the building of the hospice.
In addition to farmers, many community based organisations, schools and a large number of individuals became involved and raised substantial funds for the project.
