Hooves 4 Hospice
Lions Clubs in the midlands have joined forces with the farming community, supportive organisations and individuals in a fundraising project, named Hooves 4 Hospice, that has the potential to raise a sizeable sum of money towards the cost of building the much needed Midland Regional Hospice.
The project involves recruiting a large number of farmers from across the midlands willing to rear an animal. Ideally, the animals will remain with and be reared by the donor farmers. Other farmers may wish to donate an animal, which can be assigned to a host farm to be reared there. H4H will facilitate the needs of host farmers regarding the type of animal most suited to their farming systems.
The participating farmers will sell the animals when ready for market and the entire proceeds will be donated to help fund the building of the hospice.
In addition to the participating farmers, it is hoped that the Hooves 4 Hospice fundraising project will also appeal to many others who may wish to donate the cost of an animal, or make a donation towards the cost of purchasing animals to be reared by host farmers. Acting on behalf of participating Lions Clubs, Tullamore Lions Club (TLC) will source suitable animals to be reared by host farmers.
Host farmers will not be expected to incur any exceptional costs over and above the cost of accommodating the Hooves 4 Hospice animals in their herds. TLC will meet non-routine veterinary costs. TLC will meet the cost of delivering a project animal to the host farmer
Only BVD free animals will be selected for this project.
If a project animal dies, TLC will suffer the loss and will meet any disposal fees incurred.
Animals purchased by TLC and placed on host farms will remain the property of TLCr
